Why do we continue to take this country off a cliff when we don't stop and assess the situation. The US public schools are continuously ranked after dozens of other countries for a reason. We can head blindly down a path but nothing will improve. We need to ask, why are other countries doing better? Instead of thinking we can figure it our ourselves.

School systems in other countries are doing better because the parents have a choice of which school they can send their kids to learn. If we let the schools know that they are doing a bad job by sending kids to other schools, then they will improve to stay open. This world is survival of the fittest. If a school is defunct, then why do we keep sending children to them?

The only group of people that this hurts is the teacher's labor union. They are powerful enough to keep this failing system running at the expense of our future.
